I really liked this booki read this book when i was in 5 grade and i really like it because it has to do with a jewish family in the 1938 tring to escape berlin,germany and try to get to americaif you like historical fiction then you will like this book. Sonia levitin's the return tells the story of a family's journey to israel where they are told that they will be welcomed home the story is told by the girl, desta, who is nearing maturity she tells of the prejudice and hostility that other ethiopians have towards her people. Money is short, the mother's health is not good, and author levitin has created a well paced story with tension, that still isn't too frightening for a 11 or 12 year old reader roughly sketched black and white illustrations appear every 10 pages or so.
